Multiplicities

Date

January 2023

My passion for cinema was sparked by the discovery of film. As a filmmaker, I was captivated by the nostalgia in those images, the random beauty of the grain... So when I discovered analog photography, I was naturally drawn to the thrill of the unknown—the sense that each frame held something precious, essential, even sacred. The process itself fascinated me: the research, the preparation, the composition... And then, when the shutter finally clicks, the tension gives way to the anticipation of developing the negatives and revealing the hidden results.

My interest in multiple exposures came soon after, almost as an inevitability. The idea of layering different compositions on a single piece of film opened up endless possibilities for creative exploration, but it also demanded meticulous planning and determination. Any mistake was irreversible, often only revealed weeks after the initial capture.

This concept of juxtaposition extends beyond the technique—it’s at the heart of what these photographs are about. Straight lines clash with curves; clouds push against concrete; organic forms rise up against urban landscapes. The outcome is a kaleidoscope of layered textures and elements, balanced in a delicate yet imperfect harmony.
